Right to Know About Penalties

This subject includes information about the penalties that result from actions or statements leading to an intentional program violation.
Policy
The participant and the authorized representative are subject to state and federal penalties when a statement or action results in either Nutrition Assistance Trafficking(g) or an Intentional Program Violation(g). Penalties include, and are not limited to, any of the following:
Criminal prosecution
Fines
Imprisonment
Disqualification from program participation
For NA and CA, an IPV occurs when a participant intentionally makes false or misleading statements or misrepresents, conceals, or withholds facts for any of the following reasons:
Establishing or maintaining eligibility for benefits.
Causing an increase in benefits.
Preventing a reduction in benefits.
