BC Child Living with a Nonparent Caretaker Relative

A BC child living with a nonparent caretaker relative(g) (NPCR) or unrelated adult who meet any of the following is exempt from the benefit cap disqualification:
 
A child who is in the legal custody of the Department of Child Safety (DCS) and placed with the nonparent relative head of household in unlicensed foster care
The child is in the legal custody of a tribal court or tribal child welfare agency located in Arizona and placed with the NPCR in unlicensed foster care
NOTE When a child under the jurisdiction of the Department of Child Safety (DCS), a Tribal court or Tribal Child Welfare agency, located in Arizona is placed with a provider, the provider becomes the child's specified relative.
The child is placed with the nonparent relative head of household by a Court
The parents of the child are deceased, or one parent is deceased and the other parent has abandoned the child
The child has been abandoned
A child who is in the legal custody of the Department of Child Safety (DCS), a Tribal Court or a Tribal Child Welfare Agency located in Arizona and is placed with an unrelated adult head of household in unlicensed foster care.
 
When the child is determined eligible for CA, complete the following:
 
Key 1 (child is living with NPSR or unrelated adult) in the WERE EXPT RSN AF field.
Key IN in the PT field on SEPA.
Document CADO or the case file with the following:
The type of acceptable document used to verify the claim
The name and date of birth of the child
The 1 WERE Exempt Reason Code was used
Place the Benefit Cap Grid: Determining the BC Child (FAA 1302A) form or FAA1583A Electronic benefit Cap Determination unity form in the case file(g).
