ABAWD Eligibility Change ACTS Alert

Alert initiated by the system: The alert is initiated when an Able Bodied Adult Without Dependents (ABAWD) document such as a notice, form, or written statement is uploaded to OnBase using the ABAWD Document Type.

10 calendar days from the date the alert is initiated.
Action
Review the documents in OnBase and determine whether a participant subject to ABAWD time limits has reported a change in their ABAWD status.
When a participant loses NA benefits due to the ABAWD time limit, determine whether the participant meets the requirements for ABAWD continued eligibility.
When a participant has reached the ABAWD time limit, the participant can regain eligibility when any of the following occurs:
An ABAWD participant can regain eligibility by meeting any of the following:
An ABAWD work requirement.
NOTE ABAWD work requirements must be verified. Allow the participant ten calendar days to provide verification when necessary.
Qualifying for a three-month extension.
Entering a new three-year period, starting on 01/2025.
An ABAWD participant meets one of the following ABAWD exemptions:
Age
Residing with a minor child (under age 18)
Mentally or physically unfit for work
Pregnant
Homeless
A veteran
Former foster care youth aged 25 or under
Geographical exemption
Exempt from the NA Work Requirements

Use one of the following policies when the ABAWD participant is eligible for continued NA benefits:
When the case is closed, see NA Compliance After Closure.
NOTE When the information received is more than 30 days after closure, a new application is required for budgetary units with one participant.
When the case is open, and the information is provided before the effective closure date, see Reopening Reasons.
When the case is open with other budgetary unit participants and the ABAWD participant needs to be added back into the benefits, see Adding a Participant to an Active Case.
Document the case file with all actions taken.
Close the alert.
