This section includes information about missed interviews.
Policy
Participants who do not complete an interview by the deadline provided in the appointment notice are responsible to contact FAA as soon as possible to complete their interview.
Benefits may be delayed when an interview is completed after the appointment notice date but before the time frame to determine eligibility for the program.
When an interview is not completed by the eligibility determination time frame, benefits are denied or stopped.
For NA, the participant may contact FAA after denial or closure of NA benefits to complete their interview without providing a new application for any of the following:
New applications, by the 30th calendar day after the application is denied.
Renewal applications, by the 30th calendar day after the approval period ends.
NOTE NA benefits are prorated from the date of the interview.
For CA, the participant is required to submit a new application after CA benefits are denied or stopped because they did not complete an interview.
Procedures
Missed New Application Interviews
On the night of the interview deadline, one of the following notices are sent when the participant did not complete the interview:
For NA, the NA-Did Not Complete Interview Process (X017) notice
For CA, the CA-Initial Missed Intv/App Process (X076) notice
AZTECS automatically denies new applications and sends the appropriate notice on the following auto denial dates when the interview is not completed:
For NA, the 30th calendar day from the date of application.
For CA, the 45th calendar day from the date of application.
Missed NA Renewal Interview
AZTECS completes all of the following when the participant does not complete an interview by close of business on the last day of their approval period:
Autopopulates N in the COMPLETED field on INDA when Y is not in the field.
Denies the application.
Sends the NA-Failure to Complete Recert Interview (X011) notice.
See Timely or Untimely Renewals when the participant contacts FAA to complete an interview after the date of the interview deadline but prior to the close of business on the last day of the approval period.
See Compliance After Approval Period Ends when the participant contacts the FAA after the last day of the approval period, but by the 30th calendar day after the approval period ends.
Missed CA Renewal Interview
AZTECS completes all of the following when the participant does not complete an interview by the tenth calendar day (or next workday(g)) of the renewal month:
Autopopulates N in the COMPLETED field on INDA when Y is not in the field.
Closes CA allowing for NOAA(g)
Sends the Missed Review Notice (X051)
AZTECS Keying Procedures
When the Auto Close Process cannot close an NA renewal because the case is not in the current system month, complete all of the following:
Copy details into the current system month.
Close the case allowing for NOAA by keying the FR Denial Closure Reason Code in the DENIAL CLOSURE REASON field on FSED.
On NORE, select and send the NA Denial/Closure (F200) notice.
When the Auto Close Process cannot close a CA renewal because the case is not in the current system month, complete all of the following:
Copy details into the current system month.
Close the case allowing for NOAA by keying the FR Denial Closure Reason Code in the DENIAL CLOSURE REASON field on AFED.
On NORE, select and send the Cash Assistance Deny/Close (A200) notice.
NOTE The CASE MUST BE CLOSED ONLINE ACTS alert is generated in ACTS when the Auto Close Process cannot be completed.
