State Assistance Types of Earned Income - Wages - Tips and Gratuities
Tips and gratuities received for services are COUNTABLE. Count the tips and gratuities as part of the gross wages USING ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:

The SAME earned income calculation as the wages (See Budgeting Income)
The SAME pay period as the wages

Use the amount of tips shown on the pay stub, unless the participant claims a lesser amount AND has a record of the tips received.

When tips are not shown on the pay stub obtain the participant's written tip record. When no record is available, obtain the participant's statement, and inform them of the requirement to keep daily tip records.

Key the gross converted income in the GROSS EARNINGS field on STAA. (See Budgeting Income)
