Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community LEARN (SRP-MIC LEARN)
The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Life Enhancements and Resource Network (SRP-MIC LEARN) staff determines eligibility in AZTECS for the Tribal TANF program.
SRP-MIC participants may not receive duplicate assistance from state CA or other Tribal CA programs. The SRP-MIC participants do not have a choice between state CA or the SRP-MIC TANF. When an applicant meets the following criteria, the application is referred to SRP-MIC LEARN:
●Budgetary unit is living on SRP-MIC Tribal Land.
●At least one participant is an enrolled SRP-MIC member.
NOTE A caretaker relative must be related by blood (no limit to the degree of relationship), or by Tribal customs and/or traditions.
When it is determined that the applicant is potentially eligible for the SRP-MIC TANF, the CA application is denied.
SRP-MIC LEARN staff follow normal keying procedures necessary in making an eligibility decision for the Tribal TANF program. AZTECS must be able to identify the SRP-MIC TANF program to complete a correct eligibility determination.
NOTE FAA staff must be able to identify the SRP-MIC TANF program to ensure an active or pending SRP-MIC TANF program is not processed by an FAA worker.
The following AZTECS screens identify an SRP-MIC TANF case:
●ADDR
SA is keyed in the TRIBAL LANDS field when the budgetary unit is living on SRP-MIC Tribal Land. The SA code must be removed from the TRIBAL LANDS field when the budgetary unit no longer lives on SRP-MIC Tribal Land.
●RARE
Y is keyed in the AI RACE field and SA in the TRIBE field next to any participant who is enrolled in the SRP-MIC.
The participant's tribal census enrollment number is keyed in the TRIBAL CENSUS field, when known.
●UNIN
The OF Unearned Income Code is keyed in the INC TYPE field when child support income is countable for NA only.
The OX Unearned Income Code is keyed in the INC TYPE field when unearned income is not countable for NA or regular CA.
●WERE
X is keyed (FBCP exempt) in the AF EXPT RSN field next to each participant in the SRP-MIC TANF budgetary unit. When the budgetary unit moves out of SRP-MIC Tribal Land, WERE is keyed according to CA policies and procedures.
●WORW
RT is keyed in the PAR/EXEM field next to any adult participant.
●CARC
196 is keyed in the SITE CODE field. The case must remain with site code 196C when there is a pending or active SRP-MIC TANF program.
NOTE When the budgetary unit no longer lives in the SRP-MIC service delivery area, SRP-MIC LEARN staff keys the appropriate site code on the CARC screen to the FAA office according to the participant’s residential ZIP code.
The following message is keyed on CADO by the SRP-MIC LEARN eligibility staff as a reminder to FAA staff:
*Important – Please Read* This is an SRP-MIC (SA –Site Code 196) CA case to be worked by SRP-MIC Tribal TANF Eligibility Workers only. Do not take actions on CA.
