School Attendance Good Cause Reason Verification
When the participant wants to claim good cause for noncompliance, assist them in obtaining the necessary documents to establish the claim. These documents include, and are not limited to, any of the following:
●Attendance records
●Documentation from school officials
●Birth certificate
●Doctor's statement
●Probation or court records
The participant can claim good cause at any time. When a request for good cause is received, allow the participant ten
calendar days(g) from the date of the request to provide verification.
When good cause is verified, the participant is exempt from the PRA School Attendance requirements.
When the participant does not respond or does not verify good cause, treat any reason for claiming good cause as a valid claim and document the
case file(g). (See
School Attendance Good Cause Reasons).
NOTE When the participant refuses to comply, take action to sanction or deny the case as appropriate.
