NA as Obligations of the U.S. - Crimes and Offenses
Nutrition Assistance (NA) is an obligation of the U.S. pursuant to Section 15(b) of the Food Stamp Act of 1977. Criminal procedures related to counterfeiting, alteration, or misuse of NA benefits, are established based on the following governing authorities:
●Title 18 provisions of the U.S. Code
●Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS), Title 13, Chapter 37
●Food Stamp Act of 1977
Persons who are involved in any illegal activities with NA benefits are subject to prosecution in a court of law. The act of knowingly being involved in illegal NA activities is determined by the court.
Activities include, but are not limited, to the following:
●Transferring, acquiring, altering, or possessing benefits illegally
●Presenting, or causing to be presented, benefits for redemption or payment, knowing the benefits are transferred, counterfeited, altered, or acquired illegally
