Grazing Permits
Grazing permits are documents issued by tribal or other governmental authorities, allowing livestock owners grazing rights on designated land areas. Permits can be bought and sold, and have a cash value that is determined as follows:
●The grazing permit document will specify a number of units.
●Each unit has a current market value (see
Property CMV) that is determined by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). Unit values vary depending on the unit's location and the accessibility to water and vegetation.
NOTE When the value of grazing permits is unknown, verify unit values and duration by contacting the BIA.
