Minimum Wage Federal and State Definition
A minimum wage is the lowest wage that a worker may be paid per hour. However, some employers, like government agencies, are exempt from this requirement and may pay their workers less than the minimum wage.
Effective 01/01/2026, the minimum wage amounts are as follows:
●Federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour
●Arizona minimum wage is $15.15 per hour
NOTE Arizona allows employers to pay a
tipped worker(g) $3 per hour less than the Arizona minimum wage.
City of Flagstaff
Effective 01/01/2026, the minimum wage will be $18.35 per hour, and all employees will be required to make the full minimum wage, regardless of whether or not they regularly earn tips.
Future minimum wage for the city of Flagstaff is set to increase every January based on the Consumer Price Index or $2.00 above the Arizona minimum wage, whichever is higher.
City of Tucson
Effective 01/01/2026, the minimum wage amount for the city of Tucson is $15.45 per hour.
NOTE The city of Tucson allows employers to take a tip credit of no more than $3 per hour for tipped employees.
Future minimum wage for Tucson is set to increase by the rate of inflation rounded to the nearest multiple of $0.05 every January unless a higher Arizona or federal minimum wage overrides these rates.
