Facility Definition
An organization that provides residential or outpatient services.
Types of organizations that meet the definition of a facility include, and are not limited to, all of the following:
●Behavioral health services
●Drug and alcohol treatment center (DAATC)
●Domestic violence (DV) shelter
●Halfway house
●Hospitals
●Housing for the elderly
●Group living arrangement (GLA)
●Temporary homeless shelters and meal providers
A residential facility meets the definition of an
institution(g) when the facility provides the majority (over 50%) of three meals daily as part of the facility’s normal services. (For more information, see
