.07 Emancipated Minor Definition
 
For NA, consider a child under 18 emancipated only when state law defines the person as an adult. Use the Order for Emancipation of a Minor or other court documents as proof of emancipation.
 
For CA, an emancipated minor is under age 18 and is one of the following:
 
Married
Widowed
Divorced
Separated (a legal separation is not required)
 
CA EXCEPTION
In addition to the previously listed requirements, an UNWED minor is considered emancipated when they live on their own and meet ALL of the following:
Has been legally emancipated
Has lived apart from all of the following for at least one year prior to application:
Parents, either natural or adoptive
An adult nonparent specified relative (NPSR)
Legal guardian
Has demonstrated financial independence from the following:
Parents, either natural or adoptive
An adult nonparent specified relative (NPSR)
Legal guardian
Has not received CA in Arizona during any of the 12 months before CA application
