.01 CA PRA Immunization Good Cause Reasons
Good cause may be claimed when the participant meets any of the following conditions:
 
A signed statement has been given to the school administrator or principal from the child's parent or guardian stating they are aware of the consequences for failure to immunize and still do not consent to the vaccinations.
One or more of the immunizations are a detriment to the child's health. This must be supported by a signed statement from the child's parent or guardian and a physician. This exemption is valid during the duration of the circumstance or condition that precludes immunization.
A child who has reached a fifth birthday is exempt from the Hib immunization requirement.
A child who has reached a seventh birthday is exempt from the Pertussis immunization requirement.
A child who has laboratory evidence of immunity to the diseases the immunizations protect against is not required to be immunized. The laboratory evidence must be submitted as verification of the immunity.
 
EXCEPTION
This requirement may be waived. The parent or specified relative, must either meet the immunization good cause requirements or sign a statement including BOTH of the following:
 
They do not consent to immunization of the child, based on personal beliefs
They understand the risks and benefits of immunization
